Privacy Policy for Panels
Last updated: 2 August 2026
Panels is a comic and manga reader for Android, published by Nunninator Apps. This policy explains what the app does with your data. It is short because the app does very little with it.
The short version
Panels has no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers of its own. It talks to exactly one place: a server you choose to connect it to. Everything else stays on your device.
What is stored on your device
- Your library — the comic files you import or download, their titles, covers, and reading positions.
- Detected panels — the panel layout worked out for each page. Panel detection runs entirely on your device using a bundled model; no page image is ever uploaded for it.
- Server credentials — if you connect a server, its address
and your API key or token, held in Android's encrypted keystore
(
flutter_secure_storage). - Your settings — reading direction, gestures, and the rest.
None of this is transmitted anywhere except as described below. Uninstalling the app removes all of it.
What leaves your device
Only to servers you configure. If you connect Audiobookshelf, Komga, Kavita, Stump or an OPDS catalogue, Panels sends that server:
- your credentials, to authenticate;
- requests for the books and covers you browse or download;
- your reading position, so you can continue on another device.
That server is yours, or one you have chosen to use. Nunninator Apps operates no server and receives none of this.
You can turn reading-position sync off entirely in Settings → Sync progress with server, and still browse and download.
Connections may be unencrypted. Panels permits plain
http:// connections, because self-hosted servers on a home network
commonly are not configured with TLS. Where the server offers
https://, that is used. On an untrusted network, traffic to a
plain-HTTP server — including the credentials in its authorisation header — could
be observed. Use HTTPS where you can.
Reporting a page. The reader has a "Report this page" action. It is never automatic: choosing it opens your own email app with the page image, a copy marked with the detected panels, and the comic's title and page number attached, addressed to nunninatorapps@gmail.com. Nothing is sent unless you send it. Those reports are used only to improve panel detection.
What is never collected
- No analytics or usage tracking of any kind
- No advertising, and no advertising identifier
- No crash-reporting SDK
- No device identifiers, contacts, location, camera, or microphone
- No personal information beyond what is described above
The app requests exactly one Android permission: internet access.
Purchases
If you buy Panels Pro, the purchase is handled entirely by Google Play. Nunninator Apps never sees your payment details. Whether you own Pro is recorded on your device and confirmed with Google Play.
Children
Panels is not directed at children. It contains no advertising and collects no personal data. It displays whatever files or servers a user provides, so supervision of the content itself is a matter for whoever set the device up.
Your rights and choices
- Delete your data: uninstall the app, or remove an individual server to delete its stored credentials.
- Stop sending reading position: Settings → Sync progress with server.
- Access: everything Panels holds about you is on your own device; there is no copy elsewhere to request.
Because no personal data reaches Nunninator Apps, there is nothing for us to export, correct, or erase on request. Requests about data held by a server you connected should go to whoever operates that server.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at the same address and the date above will change. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
